As travel has halted and social distancing has become the new normal, the Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau is still working to support the Fairfield community and future visitors. Recently, the CVB Board accepted the resignation of Executive Director Rustin Lippincott, who spent 13 years growing Fairfield's presence as a destination and also lent his considerable skills to growing the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. The community and the Board are grateful for the service Rustin provided and wish him success in his future ventures. Assistant Director Terry Baker will assume the role of Interim Director to navigate current challenges.
Joining the community's effort to proceed with caution, the Fairfield Convention and Visitor Bureau office is now closed to unscheduled guests and will remain so until April 17th. However, the work of the tourism office goes on behind the scenes with the CVB team working remotely. 'Business as usual” means that the Fairfield CVB will continue to be a source of reliable information for both residents and visitors. The staff can be reached by phone at 641-472-2828, by email at info@travelfairfield.com, or at their website www.travelfairfield.com. The website is updated regularly to include relevant information such as local restaurants who are offering to-go and delivery service. During this unprecedented time, The Fairfield Convention & Visitors Bureau continues to remain invested in the travel community. 'Tourism is a resilient industry and one that is very important to the local economy,” commented Baker. 'We have a good infrastructure in place and look forward to the time when we can welcome visitors back to our community.”
