Volunteer center hosts annual appreciation party

The Fairfield Volunteer Center hosted its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Party Oct. 27 at Café Paradiso.

Singer Ingrid Best volunteered to entertain those in attendance. A highlight of the evening was several volunteers recognized as going above and beyond in their service to the community.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program recognized Linda and Jerry Hendricks for their service; Linda Hendricks for many hours put into the RSVP Friendly Visiting Program and Jerry Hendricks for his leadership and support as a team captain in the RSVP Weatherization Program.

RSVP also honored Aideen VegaVan-Auken for more than 200 hours of volunteer service as a senior Friendly Visitor and weatherization project assistant to RSVP Director JoBeth Lewer.

The Volunteer Center recognized Don Hoelting for many years of service to several organizations around town including Fairfield 1st Fridays Art Walk, the Fairfield Volunteer Center and RSVP, the Fairfield Beautification Commission and the Fairfield Arts and Convention Center. He has served on the art walk board and the volunteer center board and has given many hours of time to the betterment of the Fairfield community over the years.
