The Fairfield Volunteer Center is seeking volunteers to plant memorial flowers from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Fairfield Fire Station.
The planting is part of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. The day was created to provide a positive way to forever remember and pay tribute to the 9/11 victims, honor those that rose in service in response to the attacks and to remind people of the importance of working more closely together in peace to improve the world.
The Fairfield Volunteer Center is seeking 10 or more volunteers to plant flowers and bulbs, spread mulch and water the new plantings. Volunteers are asked to bring rakes, shovels, trowels, gloves and other equipment to help planting flow smoothly.
?Bring a friend and stay for as little or as long as you can ... many hands make light work,? said Molly Reiff, executive director of the Fairfield Volunteer Center.
