W-MU girls fall to Lone Tree in season opening game

LONE TREE ? The season is underway for the Winfield-Mt. Union girls? basketball team, who had their season opener on Tuesday night against Lone Tree.
The Wolves had a rough second quarter to trail by double-digits at halftime and could never get back into the game in a 49-25 loss.
W-MU trailed just 7-4 after the first quarter of play, but the Lions outscored the Wolves, 19-4, in the second quarter to take a 26-8 halftime lead.
The Wolves stayed relatively even with the Lions in the second half, but they were unable to cut into the lead, and eventually fell by 24.
Hannah Buffington scored 10 points to lead the team. Hannah Mathews, Lexee Hartsock and Pearl Krieger-Coble had four points apiece. Allie McArtor scored two points and Sabrina Moody had one.
The Wolves will be on the road again in their next game. They?ll travel to West Liberty for a game on Saturday, Nov. 26, at 3:30 p.m. West Liberty is currently 0-1 with a 38-point loss to Wilton on Tuesday.
