Wapello County Fair starts Wednesday
ELDON ? The Wapello County Fair begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Eldon.
The fair will kick off Wednesday with harness racing at noon, the queen and Little Miss contests at 7 p.m., followed by the Red Head Express family music group.
Thursday is Senior Citizens Day, with harness racing at noon, a free meal for seniors and car races at 7 p.m.

ELDON ? The Wapello County Fair begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday at the fairgrounds in Eldon.
The fair will kick off Wednesday with harness racing at noon, the queen and Little Miss contests at 7 p.m., followed by the Red Head Express family music group.
Thursday is Senior Citizens Day, with harness racing at noon, a free meal for seniors and car races at 7 p.m.
Friday?s highlight is the FMX Championship Series ? a free-style motocross? at 7:30 p.m.
Kid?s Day is planned Saturday, with a fishing contest, a baby contest and more.
Registration for the fishing contest will be from 8-9 a.m., and the fishing contest will be from 9-10 a.m. with three age groups: 0-6, 7-10, and 11-15. Prizes will be awarded for each age group.
The conservation board will be assisting with the contest. The board
will provide fishing poles for any youngster who doesn?t have one. Worms also will be provided.
Registration for the baby contest will be at 9 a.m. in Wapello Hall.
Games and food will follow the contests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The pedal-tractor pull for children ages 4-9 is scheduled for 1 p.m., with the nickel scramble following.
Registration for the FFA sheep show will be at 10:30 a.m., and the open class sheep show will follow. The goat show is set for 6 p.m.
Texaco Country Showdown is at 7 p.m.
The Kip Moore and Hunter Hayes concert is at 8:30 p.m.
Highlights for Sunday are the horse show at 11 a.m.; registration for the FFA beef show at 11:30 a.m., followed by the open class beef show. A demo derby is set for 6 p.m.
Evan United Carnival has announced ride specials. With a $15 prepurchased wrist band, fairgoers can have unlimited rides from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The wrist bands can be purchased at Libertyville Savings Bank?s Fairfield, Libertyville and Eldon locations, Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce and Patriot Bank in Agency.
Wristbands will be $17 after the fair starts Wednesday.
