Washington 4-H’ers take honors at Southeast Iowa Showdown, Final Drive

Washington County 4-H’ers earned several high honors at the annual Southeast Iowa Showdown in Donnelson and Final Drive Livestock Show in Burlington held in recent weeks.
The SE Iowa Showdown is a prestigious livestock show that invites the county fair Grand Champions from Washington, Louisa, Wapello, Van Buren, Henry, Des Moines, Jefferson, Lee, Johnson and Muscatine County Fairs to compete against each other at a regional competition. This is a unique show as it is by invitation only for the best of each county to compete against their neighboring counties.
The following Washington County Fair Grand Champions competed at the Southeast Iowa Showdown in Donnelson on Aug. 1
Champion Breeding Ewe: Garrett Greiner
Champion Market Lamb: Garrett Greiner
Champion Breeding Doe: Avery Shalla
Champion Market Goat: Avery Shalla
Champion Breeding Gilt: Jeorgia Evans
Champion Market Hog: Brynn Younge
Champion Breeding Heifer: Brynn Younge
Champion Market Beef: Bailey Sieren
Several of these exhibitors were selected as Grand Champions and planned to continue to show these animals and represent Washington County 4-H at the All Iowa Showdown in Oskaloosa, Iowa Sunday, Aug. 8. Those include:
Grand Champion Market Hog: Brynn Younge
Grand Champion Market Goat: Avery Shalla
Grand Champion Breeding Ewe: Garrett Greiner
Grand Champion Market Lamb: Garrett Greiner
Reserve champion honors were given to Jeorgia Evans for Breeding Gilt, Avery Shalla for Breeding Doe. Avery Shalla received Champion Goat Showman honors and Jeorgia Evans received Champion Swine Showman honors.
The following Washington County Fair Reserve Grand Champions competed at the Final Drive in Burlington on July 25: Maddie Thomann, Isaac Black, Hunter Siebal , Ella Greiner, Kaitlin Martin, Jovie for Jeorgia Evans, Ava Greiner, Sophie Sojka, Peighton Ford, Preston Ford, Kinley Holmes, and Halle Hershberger
Several top honors were given to the following Washington County 4-H exhibitors at the Final Drive:
Reserve Champion Breeding Gilt: Peighton Ford
Reserve Champion Breeding Heifer: Kinley Holmes
Reserve Champion Breeding Doe: Isaac Black
3rd Overall Breeding Gilt: Preston Ford
3rd overall Market Lamb: Ella Greiner
4th overall Breeding Ewe: Ava Greiner
Champion Goat Showman: Isaac Black
