Washington Betterment Foundation recognizes beautification efforts
Nov. 1, 2021 2:03 pm
The Washington, Iowa Betterment Foundation (WIBF) began a project today to recognize members of the community for efforts to improve the quality of life and beautify the community.
The "Bill Sitler Award for Bettering Washington" was presented by the Betterment Foundation to members of the City of Washington administration for the enhancement of City Hall, which includes the Washington Police Department and Fire Station.
Members of the WIBF feel it is important to recognize the efforts within the community to enhance the appearance of buildings, homes and the landscape.
"The Washington Iowa Betterment Foundation was organized by long-time, Washington benefactor, Bill Sitler, to encourage and financially support projects which physically improve, beautify and enhance Washington," said WIBF Board President Roxanne Bush. "Our organization encourages revitalization projects which increase the positive appearance of our community and which also improve the quality of life in Washington. We intend to recognize people and organizations for doing just that."
The City of Washington completed the renovation and redesign of the existing city hall offices, in conjunction with the enhancement and expansion of the city's fire department, last year. Mayor Jaron Rosien was present to accept the recognition.
The mission of the Betterment Foundation is to award financial grants to nonprofit organizations to assist their efforts of physical improvements or the enhancement of the quality of life in Washington. Applications for the support of the WIBF are available from any board member. Contact information is available through the organization's Facebook page or by stopping in the Washington Chamber of Commerce for an informational brochure.
