Washington blood drive Oct. 7

The Optimist Club of Washington is hosting the next blood drive in Washington on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at the KC Hall, 606 W. Third St.

The organization will honor appointments, and if you are a past donor, you can sign-up online at bloodcenter.org. Click on the red DONOR tab and complete the information and select your appointment time. Or call 800-747-5401 and ask the receptionist to direct your call to the scheduling team. Masks are required and social distancing will be in place.

This blood drive has been named the “Yale Jarvis Memorial Blood Drive.”

Yale was a long-time donor and a local drive coordinator in Washington. He also motivated several businesses to host a mobile blood drive for their employees. When he was unable to donate blood, he transported blood from the blood drives back to Rock Island to be processed. Yale always encouraged those donating blood, and had a smile for each donor in attendance.
