Members of the Washington High School Class of 1961 met for their 60th reunion Oct. 22-23.
Ken Hanson hosted classmates at Unc & Neph’s in Washington on Friday, Oct. 22, for casual dining and a Zoom for those unable to attend.
The next day on Saturday, Oct. 23, 31 reunion attendees celebrated at Lebowski’s in Washington. Co-chairs Barb Miller Wallerich and Leanna Lunning Watson registered guests. Following a buffet lunch, each person shared personal highlights and memories. Mike McCarthy offered invocation, and a moment of silence was observed to honor those unable to attend due to illness, as well as 39 deceased classmates.
Alice Scranton Blanchard emceed a humorous presentation of gifts for the usual oldest, youngest, most children, etc. including some historical events which happened in the world during our lifetimes. A computerized slide show of graduation pictures, Hilife articles and newspaper clippings was available for viewing.
Paula Gregory Olander and Ken Hanson will chair a planning committee for a future reunion.
