Aspiring as well as experienced actors are encouraged to attend auditions from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 7 and Aug. 9-10 at the Washington Community Center, 2227 250th St., Washington.
?Leaving Iowa? is the story of middle-aged writer Don Browning, who returns home and decides to finally take his father?s ashes to his childhood home, as requested. When Don discovers his grandma?s house is now a grocery store, however, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place. The road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don?s memories of the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood.
The cast consists of four main characters: Don, Sis, Mom and Dad, in both the past and present and portrayed by the same actors. Additional cast members can number as few as two and as many as 22. Scripts can be checked out at the Washington Public Library.
Performance dates for ?Leaving Iowa? are Oct. 14-16.
