Washington County Clover Kid third graders had their time in the show ring on Wednesdsay, July 20. New this year, Washington County 4-H Clover Kids had the opportunity to learn more about the bucket bottle calf project through a special mentoring program, which then gives them their very own County Fair Bucket Bottle Class.
Interested 3rd grade Clover Kids were paired with older 4-H sheep project members. The Clover Kids and mentors met two to three times prior to the Washington County Fair. These meetings allowed the 4-H mentor to teach the Clover Kid all about bottle calves, including how to feed, walk, and wash them. During the Washington County Fair bucket bottle calf show, the Clover Kids had the opportunity to show one of their mentor’s bucket bottle calves.
10 Clover Kids participated, including: Brooklynn Liska, Adrian Green, Lucas Bender, Lauren McWhirter, Eve Stoutner, Hadley Leichty, Carter Roberts, Landon Lee, Conner Leyh, and Blaine Duwa 4-H mentors included: Tessa Bombei, Tess Berdo, Elijah Statler, Taylor Bartholomew, Brynn Northup, Claire Stalder, Parker Conway, Kendall Conway, Tate Bombei, and Madison Conway.
