Washington County 4-H'ers exhibit livestock at the Iowa State Fair

Sixty-three Washington County 4-H youth showed livestock at the Iowa State Fair.

Several champions and reserve champions were earned by Washington county exhibitors in the meat goat, swine, rabbit, and horse departments.

"Youth gain so many positive skills by exhibiting livestock both at the county and state level," said Amy Green, Washington County 4-H/youth coordinator. "The dedication, responsibility, decision-making and leadership they develop can prepare them for careers that use these skills. Those who exhibit at the state level are exposed to many others in the industry and learn more with those contacts as well. We are proud so many youth and families want and can be a part of that experience."

In the Breeding Beef category: Chelsey Lampe - purple, Conner Eichelberger - purple, Keiffer Sexton - blue, Mason Juhl - red, Matt Colbert - purple, Nicholas Sandburg - red and Skyler Juhl - red.

In the Market Beef category: McKenna Brinning - purple, James Colbert - purple, Matt Colbert- purple, Cody Crawford - blue, Jacob Eichelberger - red, Emma Eubanks - red, Jaedynn Evans - purple, Colton Schneider - red, and Sarah Schneider - blue.

In the Beef Showmanship category: Emma Eubanks - blue, Jacob Eichelberger - blue, Keiffer Sexton - purple and Nicholas Sandburg - blue.

In the Breeding Meat Goats category: Haley Sweeting - three purple and a blue ribbon.

In the Market Meat Goat category: Haley Sweeting - purple, Lona Farrier - blue, blue, Spencer Arnold - red and purple.

In the Breeding Sheep category: Aaliyah Brown - purple, Carson Sprouse - blue, Eli Van Roekel - blue, blue, Hannah Van Roekel - blue and two purple ribbons, Megan Ruth - blue and Taylor Sublette - purple.

In the Market Sheep category: Aaliyah Brown blue and purple, Carson Sprouse - two blue ribbons, Clara Schmitz - three blue ribbons, Eli Van Roekel - blue, Hannah Van Roekel - three blue ribbons, Megan Ruth - blue, and Taylor Sublette - two blue ribbons.
