Washington — Washington County fifth grade students recently participated in Progressive Agriculture Safety Day, a hands-on educational event designed to teach youth how to stay safe at home, on farms, and in their communities.
Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive safety stations led by community volunteers and organizations. Each station provided practical demonstrations and lessons focused on real-life safety situations.
This year’s presenters and their topics included: Mid-Prairie FFA — Grain Bin Safety; Washington Fire Department — Fire Safety; Washington FFA — Animal Safety; Farm Bureau — PTO Safety; Washington Police Department — Roadways & Bicycle Safety; WACO FFA — Blind Spots; Washington County Health Center — First Aid; Sinclair Tractor — Lawn Equipment Safety; Sun & Fun Motorsports — ATV Safety; Farm Bureau Financial Services, Ann C Williams — Water & Sun Safety
“We are grateful to all of the presenters who dedicated their time and expertise to help our students build important safety skills,” said Samantha Jamison, Washington County Youth Outreach Educator.
Progressive Agriculture Safety Day is part of a national program that reaches thousands of youth each year, offering age-appropriate, hands-on education in rural and agricultural safety.
