On Thursday, April 10, local residents will have the opportunity to enjoy a free afternoon of health and wellness at Washington County Hospital and Clinics' (WCHC) Living Well Center's first ever Health and Wellness Expo. This event will be held at Washington County Hospital in the South Lobby Corridor on Thursday April 10 from 2:30 to 6:30 pm.
WCHC hosts this Health and Wellness Expo to educate and increase the awareness of Washington County and surrounding area residents on products, services, and resources available to help individuals living with a chronic disease and those caring for them. A diverse group of vendors and practitioners will be on hand to offer presentations, product samples, and demonstrations that will inform on the subjects of chronic disease. Exhibitors will include community organizations, pharmaceutical representatives, private businesses, health agencies, local health professionals and more.
This year's expo will feature three presentations:
? "COPD: How to Partner with Your Doctor and Advocate for Yourself" from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Robert Nicola Conference Room. Presenter Jean Rommers is a patient advocate and as an American Lung Association volunteer frequently speaks on the topic of COPD and lung disease.
? "Managing Diabetes: The Next Step" from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Education Classroom. Presenter Gary Montuori is a specially trained member of the A1C Champions® Program; as an A1C Champion he knows first-hand the challenges to managing diabetes.
? "Healthy Heart" from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Robert Nicola Conference Room. Presenter Dr. Stephan Schomer, Cardiologist has more than 20 years of experience and specializes in non-interventional cardiology.
All attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a voucher for a full cholesterol panel at a reduced cost. This voucher gives attendees the flexibility to schedule their lab work at their convenience and provides a great cost savings. Attendees will also be eligible for door prizes and get to try some fun healthy snacks.
Advance registration is not required for this event. The Health and Wellness Expo is free and open to the public on a walk-in basis. For more information, call WCHC's Living Well Center at 319-863-2030.
