Second grade students at Mid-Prairie East Elementary in Kalona had their first Agriculture in the Classroom Zoom lesson last week with Washington County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Outreach Educator Diane Rinner. The students learned about crops and animals grown and raised in Iowa by completing an activity called A Hungry Iowa Caterpillar from Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation.
Rinner will Zoom once a month to all second grade students at Mid-Prairie East Elementary and teach them how agriculture plays an important role in their lives through creative hands-on activities. Agriculture in the Classroom in Washington County is a partnership between Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Washington County and Washington County Farm Bureau.
For more information about Zoom lessons, please contact Diane Rinner at drinner@iastate.edu or (319) 653-4811.
