Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be offering Mental Health First Aid training (adult version) online on Feb. 25, March 25 and April 22. During these dates, Washington County residents are invited to join at no cost thanks to a partnership with the Washington County Mental Health Coalition.
This groundbreaking eight-hour training course gives people the tools to identify when someone might be struggling with a mental health or substance use problem and to connect them with appropriate support and resources when necessary. Participants in the class will learn a 5-step action plan that guides them through the process of reaching out and offering appropriate support.
For more information and to register, go to: www.extension.iastate.edu/humansciences/MHFA Washington County residents can use the registration code WASHINGTON to register at no cost. Each program begins at 10 a.m., ends at 4 p.m. and will include two hours of individual course work prior to the class.
