Washington FFA attends state convention
The Washington FFA Chapter attended the 86th annual State FFA convention from April 27 to 29.
Among the attendees were Joceline Spenner, daughter of Bob and Joanne Spenner; Brett Wright, son of Craig and Lynn Wright; Alexey England, daughter of Rhonda Moore and Tim England; Tehya Holmes, daughter of Kerry and Amy Baker; and Aubrey Zimmer, daughter of Philip and Carla Zimmer.

The Washington FFA Chapter attended the 86th annual State FFA convention from April 27 to 29.
Among the attendees were Joceline Spenner, daughter of Bob and Joanne Spenner; Brett Wright, son of Craig and Lynn Wright; Alexey England, daughter of Rhonda Moore and Tim England; Tehya Holmes, daughter of Kerry and Amy Baker; and Aubrey Zimmer, daughter of Philip and Carla Zimmer.
McKenna Brinning, daughter of Shane and Kathleen Brinning, received second place in the WHO and Iowa Farmer Today award, along with being recognized as a member of the state champion Livestock Judging team. Macy Marek, daughter of Heather and Tim Marek, participated in the treasurer?s book and was also recognized for not only being on Livestock Judging team, but earning high individual as well. Libby Schnicker and Emma Stout were also recognized for being members of the state champion Milk Quality and Products team with Libby receiving high individual.
Receiving their Iowa degrees were Tanner Knupp, son of Zeus and Jackie Knupp; Carter Hesseltine, son of Aaron and Toni Hesseltine; Macy Marek; Colton Twinam, son of Paulette and Lane Twinam; and Brad Skubal, son of Dave and Karolyn Skubal.
These members ? along with over 1,500 others ? also participated in Meals From the Heartland, an Iowa-based, nonprofit organization that packages meals and sends them to countries in need. This year, Iowa FFA members packaged 250,000 meals.
Along with participating in these events, members attended a fun night at the Iowa State University Memorial Union, visited a career show, and saw keynote speaker Bill Northey.
?State Convention was great!? says McKenna Brinning. ?We went to a wildlife care clinic, and I loved seeing all the birds they brought to show us, and hearing about all the stories that happened there.?
