Washington FFA places seventh

The Washington FFA Chapter was named the seventh-place team in the 2015 Iowa FFA Agronomy Career Development Event (CDE) June 6. Members of the team included: Gabe Greiner (Shaun and Heather Greiner), Karlton Skubal (Dave and Karolyn Skubal), Aaron Vittetoe (Don and Alicia Vittetoe) and Will Marek (Brad and Mary Sue Marek). Individually, Greiner finished 12th and Marek was 23rd. Their Agricultural Education instructor is Duane Van Winkle.

FFA teams including over 100 individuals from 27 participated in this year's CDE designed to provide the students an opportunity to display their agricultural knowledge and skills in the area of agronomy. Activities included demonstration of skills and problem solving in hay, silage, corn, soybean and market grain evaluation; as well as seed, plant and insect identification. A written examination was included along with a team problem-solving competition.
