Washington library to present programs on gardening, 6-on-6 basketball

Our community has two passions, gardening and Iowa Hawkeye sports. Keep an eye out for May 16th when Beth Cody gives her presentation called “Iowa Gardens of the Past: Lost and Historic Gardens of Iowa: 1850-1980”.

Until this month I have never followed Iowa Hawkeye sports. I considered myself more of a studious type because I could never catch a ball, throw a ball, or run. But after much conversation with library patrons and staff, I actually watched two Iowa Women’s basketball games.

Now I can see why everyone gives such high praise to these athletes! I tell you this because Jennifer Sterling, a member of the Sports Studies program from the University of Iowa, will be giving a program called “6-On-6 Girls’ Basketball in Iowa: Traditions, Transitions, and Legacies” on Saturday, March 25th at 10 a.m. This will be one not to miss!
