The Washington Public Library has announced the following events for December:
Gingerbread House Decorating Contest
Bring your uniquely decorated gingerbread house to the library between Dec. 1-20. The gingerbread houses will be displayed in the library the month of December. Voting ends Dec. 22. The winners will be announced Dec. 30. Prize categories include children, teens, and adults.
Holiday Gone Green: Saturday., Dec 4th at 10 a.m. (registration required)
Learn how to transform old Holiday cards into a beautiful Holiday wreath.
This program is free and open to all ages. (5th grade and under should be accompanied by an adult.) Bring any small items to make your Christmas wreath unique.
Christmas cards and all other materials will be provided, but you may bring your own craft supplies if you would like. Registration is required by Dec. 2.
FriYAY Funday-Cupcake Wars: Friday, Dec. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Get your creative juices flowing and join in for Library Cupcake Wars. Each participant will create their own cupcake masterpiece. Be inspired by your favorite book, hobby, or wherever your imagination takes you.
The event will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in the Nicola Stoufer Room. Registration is required. This program is open to grades K-12th. The library will provide the cupcakes and frosting. Participants must bring their own toppings to create their cupcake masterpieces.
Cookies and Cocoa: Monday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m.
Sip on hot chocolate, decorate holiday cookies, and enjoy some holiday games. Open to children in grades 6-12.
Noon Years Eve-Eve: Thursday, Dec. 30 at 11 a.m.
Join this family-friendly party counting down the new year without staying up late, complete with games, crafts, and a balloon drop to ring in the noon year. Fun for the entire family. Registration required. Not comfortable being in a crowd? Take and make kits are available.
