Jul. 10, 2019 1:00 pm
This week the Washington Municipal Band will have two concerts on Thursday, July 11. The first concert will be at 6:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Home for their residents and anyone who wants to join them, then the regular concert at the square at 8 p.m.
This week's band concert will be western themed. Band members ask the community to join them for a 'grand old time with your 10-gallon hats and boots.”
The band will perform the following selections:
Prairie Dances
Men of Ohio
El Capitan
The Rocketeer
Take Me Back to my Boots and Saddle
Suite of Old American Dances
Gunsmoke
Blazing Saddles
Fanfare for the Common Man
Next week the will have a special concert on Sunday, July 21. This is the 88th season for the Washington Municipal Band and they are going to celebrate with a special concert on 88 keys. The piano has 88 keys, so how better than to celebrate music than a piano concert.
Special guests will be Susan See, Margie Runaas, and Virginia Bordwell all fantastic pianists from the community. The band will also play a few numbers of arrangements from piano pieces. The concert will be held at the United Presbyterian church at 2:30 p.m. in the sanctuary where the air is cool and the music great. What could be better than a Sunday afternoon of music?
