Washington Optimists to host blood drive Oct. 15

The Optimist Club of Washington will host a blood drive from 1:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at the United Presbyterian Church at 209 East Washington Street in Washington. No walk-ins will be accepted. You must have an appointment. For questions, contact Don Pfeiffer at 319-653-4912.
The Optimists encourage those who are able to donate blood, saying that blood donations can save up to nine lives.
'Thirty-eight percent of the population are eligible to donate blood, but only 10 percent do so,” stated the organization in a news release.
