Washington Scouting units holding open house event Sunday

On Sunday, April 28, from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Pack 242 and Troop 242 will be holding an open house event at the United Presbyterian Church on 209 E Main Street in Washington, for families who are interested in learning more about the Cub Scout and the Scouts BSA program.
Troop 242 was first chartered with the Boy Scouts of America in 1966 by the Washington United Methodist Church. The Pack was chartered the following year through the Washington Optimist Club. The Washington United Methodist Church is excited to charter the first scouts BSA Troop for girls in Washington County. Pack and Troop 242 are holding this open house to provide information about the programs offered through the Boy Scouts of America program.
Cub Scouting is designed for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth-grade, and the Scouts BSA experience is for young men and women 11-18.
About the Hawkeye Area Council: The Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America serves more than 5,600 youth in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington counties. Headquartered in Cedar Rapids, the Hawkeye Area Council was formed in 1952 and has been serving the youth of Eastern Iowa ever since.
In 2018, its members contributed over 27,000 community service hours to the area and 83 Scouts earned the prestigious Eagle Rank.
