Washington State Bank announces new directors

Washington State Bank board of directors is pleased to announce that two new directors have been named: Martin 'Marty” L. Beenblossom of Washington and Robert 'Bob” G. Davis of Columbus Junction.

Beenblossom, a Washington native, owns and operates Jones and Eden Funeral Home, where he has been employed since 1991. Beenblossom graduated from Washington High School in 1987; from Iowa Wesleyan College in 1991; and received one year of mortuary science training in Boston, Massachusetts. He and his wife Teresa, who is principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Washington, have two children, Brynn and Luke.

Beenblossom served a term on the board of trustees of Washington County Hospital and also served a term on the Washington Community Schools board. He is an active member of St. James Church, a member of the Noon Kiwanis Club and the Washington Chamber of Commerce board of directors.

Davis is a native of the Cotter and Columbus Junction area. Davis graduated from Highland High School in 1971 and attended Iowa State University's Farm Operations winter program for four years.

Davis has farmed since high school and his family's Century Farm has been in the Davis family for 134 years. Davis is an elder of the Cotter Presbyterian Church. Davis and his wife Lori have two adult children: Jeremy is an engineer at Unverferth Manufacturing, Shell Rock; and Ashley is a media manager for Wyffels Hybrids in the Quad Cities.

Both new directors will begin their responsibilities on the Washington State Bank board of directors in November. They take the positions held most recently by the late Dr. James Harris and by James Lloyd, who retired from the board in September following 35 years of service as a director.
