Students at Washington Elementary School are learning about the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Kids.
In October, the school focused on Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.
To Begin With the End in Mind means to have a plan. It means: ?I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school?s mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen.?
Teachers nominated one student, who exemplified Habit Two, from their classrooms for recognition at a recent assembly.
Kindergarten teacher Julie Gleason said Kayla Reiner is a great example to everyone. She is very hard working, polite and kind. She always thinks first before she acts and thinks about others feelings. She cares about her work and always turns in work that she is proud of doing.
Cecelia and LeLaina Coplea are Nicole Spalla?s ?Kindergarten Wonder Twins.? They are so conscientious about doing the right thing and how their actions affect others. They work hard and diligently every day and treat others with the utmost kindness and compassion.
First-grade teacher Shawna Applegate said Ivy Larsen is a fabulous example of Beginning With the End in Mind because she is always looking for ways to be a good citizen. She works diligently to turn in quality work, and she knows hard work equals success.
First-grade teacher Jamie Reifsteck said Kayla Schubick always completes her work and strives to understand what she is learning.
Second-grade teacher Shelley Carter said Hannah Bergren exhibits the leadership trait of Beginning with the End in Mind by planning ahead and paying attention to detail. She is a careful and diligent worker and is always willing to help her classmates.
Second-grade teacher Brianna Thornton said Ellie Anderson set goals for herself and works hard to accomplish them.
Third-grade teacher Mindy Hoskins said Abby Schaefer works hard on all assignments and knows that hard work will help her gain knowledge. She works well with a partner or in a group to complete an assigned task.
Third-grade teacher Lani Smith said she can count on Nathan Whitney giving 100 percent on all his assignments and helping others around him when he is finished. He is always making sure he has everything turned in on time.
Fourth-grade teacher Julie Hanshaw said Lily Hoskins is a leader in the class. She is diligent about completing all her work and returns it on time. She is a responsible citizen both in the classroom and the school. She comes to school each day with a positive attitude and wants to help out in any way she can.
Fourth-grade teacher Heather Buckley said Averi Henderson does an excellent job completing any given task, assignment or project. Her attention to detail, efforts on assignments and participation in classroom discussion is impressive. Averi is kind hearted and helpful to her peers. Her kindness and warm personality is contagious to those that surround her and truly make her a good citizen in the classroom.
