Miller served as Iowa?s Secretary of State in the 1930s. She was the first woman to do so. She also started the Iowa State Patrol in an effort to make Iowa?s roads safer. In 1975, Miller was the first woman inducted into the Iowa Women?s Hall of Fame, and in 1999, the Old Historical Building in Des Moines was named the Ola Babcock Miller Office Building.
