Washington’s Nick and Lexi Yoder are proud parents

Jason and Christina Collier welcomed their first grandchild on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024. Sylvester Kai Yoder made his entrance at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Iowa Hospital weighing in at 6 lbs. and was 18 inches long. Proud parents are Nick and Lexi Yoder of Washington, IA.
Paternal grandparents are Kim and Jenny Yoder of Ainsworth. Great-grandparents are Joe and Judy Skubal of Ainsworth, Jim and Carol Collier of Monticello and Ted and Deb Gray of Kent, Washington.
CHURCH NEWS
The Membership and Mission Committee at the United Church of Crawfordsville held a Soup Competition and Movie Night, Saturday evening, February 4. Close to 50 dined in or carried out.
Those present sampled four different soups and then voted on their preferences. Baked Potato, Cheesy Vegetable, Lasagna and Chicken Noodle soup were offered, as well as finger foods, relishes and desserts.
Winners were 1st place: Izzy Collier with the Baked Potato; 2nd: Jeanne Davis with Cheesy Potato; 3rd: Jennie Gerot with Chicken Noodle and 4th: Margaret Patterson with Lasagna. They were all delicious!
While eating, the movie "Woodlawn" was watched. It told of a young man and his life journey and those connected to him. It told of how perseverance, hard work and willingness changed his life. The overall theme was " This is what happens when God shows up."
Ash Wednesday services on Feb. 14 will begin with a brief "Coffee and Ashes" at the United Church of Crawfordsville and in the evening, a Pancake Supper will be held at 6 p.m. at the Ainsworth Community Church, with a service following and another service at 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Crawfordsville.
LIONS CLUB PANCAKE SUPPER
The Crawfordsville Lions Club invites everyone to their Pancake Supper on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Crawfordsville Fire Station. It will be held from 4-7 p.m. and Pancakes, Sausage, Eggs and Drinks will be offered for a free-will offering. Proceeds will go toward a WACO Scholarship.
WHITE CLOUD CLUB
Six members of the White Cloud Club met Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 at Your Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland for lunch. Virginia Sands was hostess and decorated the tables in the Valentine theme.
President Betty Lintz opened the meeting with the history of the King Cake and the chocolate waffle. Roll call was answered by each telling their favorite color.
Pat Miller presented the minutes of the last meeting and gave the treasurer's report as well. They were approved as read. Cards were signed to be sent to members, Joyce Huff and Pauline Richardson, who couldn't be with them.
Attending were Jolene Colthurst, Betty Lintz, Pat Miller, Diane Johnston, Margaret Patterson and Virginia Sands.
The next meeting will be Date Night at Your Choice Family Restaurant in Wayland on March 5 at 6 p.m.
