The Wayland Lions Club held their Nov. 19 meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were 14 members in attendance.
President Randy Morrow called the meeting to order @ 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Robert Meyer gave the Invocation.
The meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hostetler
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes of last meeting and Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer's Report, which were both approved.
Old Business:
1. Secretary Bill Grimm is contacting Mike for a discussion in January on a Flag Program for National Holidays.
2. Lion Gwen DeVaul is contacting Lion Jay Meyer to discuss implementation of Lions KidSight Program for elementary vision screening.
3. Gwen DeVaul is scheduling AXIS Vision Care in Washington for two students. Lion Stan Meyer volunteered to drive the students to the appointment.
4. Lion Ron Marsh has arranged for the group 'Just Us Girls” for singing entertainment at the Christmas Party on Dec. 17, 2019.
New Business:
1. Lion Gwen DeVaul updated her suggestion of a Dinner and Theater event with the WACO High School Drama Club. There will be three plays for the event, coupled with a Dinner.
2. Lion Brian Pattyson informed the members that the WACO Leo Club is on hold until next year.
3. Brian Pattyson discussed the 'Freedom Rock Tour,” which will take place on July 11, 2020. The tour will be through the 13 towns in Henry County and end at the 'Freedom Rock” location in Winfield. The Goal of the 'Freedom Rock Program is to put a 'Freedom Rock” in all 99 counties of Iowa to salute our United States Servicemen and Servicewomen for protecting all of us. Wayland Community Center is being considered as a possible lunch tour stop. More details are being developed at the 'Freedom Tour” meetings that take place on the third Monday of each month. The meetings are held at the VFW Center in Winfield starting at 6 p.m. Volunteers are welcome to assist with great ideas for this worthy event honoring our servicemen and servicewomen.
4. Lion Stan Meyer advised the members that the Annual Rose Sale for next year looks favorable.
Official meeting ended at 7:40 p.m.
