Wayland Lions Club discusses Independence Day Parade

The Wayland Lions Club held their April 15, 2025 meeting at “Your Choice Family Restaurant.” Thirteen Lions were present plus guests, Edward and Linda Dangler.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Theresa Ferdig, followed by the Invocation by Brian Pattyson.
Lion Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report and Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the March 18, 2025 meeting; both were approved unanimously.
Old Business discussed:
- Wayland Lions Club American Flag program has 132 Subscriptions for 2025 with 89 paid and 43 needing payment to continue the program.
- Stan Meyer met with Andy Eichelberger, who graciously donated a hog for the 4th of July Independence Day Pancake Breakfast.
- Wayland Lions Club will be donating the proceeds from the July 4th Independence Day Pancake Breakfast for a NuStep exercise machine for the WAYMAR Community Room.
- Wayland Lions will Sponsor the July 4th Independence Day Parade as in the past.
- Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 19th. Lion Jay Meyer to secure candy for the event. The Easter Bunny will be greeting the participants.
New Business:
- Lion Gwen DeVaul reported that the frames for eyeglasses had increased.
Wayland Lion Members approved raising the coverage to $150 for those who qualify.
- Lion Stan Meyer coordinated receipt of eyeglasses with Arlene Wenger.
- President Theresa Ferdig shared four applications for the Lions Scholarship for the following students: Joel Meyer, Justine Lynn, Keiran J. Luitjens, Elyssa Marie Graber.
- The Wayland Lions will award a $500 Scholarship Check for the chosen applicant which they will receive at the awards ceremony in May.
- Lion Jay Meyer reviewed the KidSight Examinations held last year performed by Jay, Bruce Eichelberger and Sheldon Miller.
- Bill Grimm submitted a request for funds by “The Little Me & Company Daycare.” The funds requested were approved.
- Wayland Lion members will tour the Daycare Center prior to their monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 6:00 PM.
- All Wayland Lions materials, displays and paraphernalia will be stored in the Pilot Grove Savings Bank. Wayland Lions members are requested to bring any items to Wayland Lions President Theresa Ferdig at Pilot Grove Savings Bank.
