Wayland Lions Club hears talk by guest Sheri El Vansacker

The Wayland Lions Club held their Feb. 18, 2025 meeting at “Your Choice Family Restaurant.” Five Lions and two guests, Kelly Huston & Sheri El Vansacker were present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Theresa Ferdig, followed by the Invocation by Secretary Bill Grimm.
Lion Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report and Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes; both were approved unanimously.
There was no Old Business discussed.
New Business:
JulyAnne Stauffer requested an insert to place on Wayland City site to advertise the Easter Egg Hunt to be scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday April 19th.
July 4th Independence Day Pancake Breakfast will be provided by the Wayland Lions Club.
Wayland Lions will Sponsor the July 4th Independence Day Parade as in the past.
Wayland Lions Club donated to “WACO After Prom Program.”
Wayland Lions Clubs American Flag Program was discussed as follows:
All Wayland Lions materials, displays and paraphernalia will be stored in the Pilot Grove Savings Bank. Wayland Lions members are requested to bring any items to Wayland Lions President Theresa Ferdig at Pilot Grove Savings Bank.
President Theresa Ferdig gave an update on the American Flag subscriptions with over 60 received to date.
Stan Meyer organized updating the current subscription forms, had them printed and mailed to132 subscribers. Randy Morrow and Theresa Ferdig assisted in updating the current form with additional information.
Additional Fund Raisers for Wayland Communities was discussed.
Many inquiring about Rose Program that had to be canceled because of supply issues.
Guest Presentation:
Sheri El Vansacker briefed the Wayland Lions Club members on a medical condition called Stickler Syndrome which affects several parts of the body including the eyes. Sheri suggested that Lions Clubs could assist in providing glasses for those suffering from the disease.
Sheri also discussed the benefits of a NuStep exercise Cross Trainer for WAYMAR residents. The convenience of the NuStep Cross Trainer being in the WAYMAR Community Center eliminates the need for distant gyms travel. There are many at WAYMAR residents on rehab for Heart, Stroke, and maintenance training. The Wayland Lions Club will consider ways to assist WAYMAR in future meeting discussions.
