Wayland Lions Club holds June meeting

The Wayland Lions Club held their June meeting at “Your Choice Restaurant.” Attending were 12 members.
President Theresa Ferdig called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Secretary Bill Grimm gave the Invocation.
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
Old Business:
- The second Banner was received for New Badges and acknowledgments as the Original Banner is full of Badges and acknowledgments of Wayland Lions Club community events and donations.
- President Theresa Ferdig read Scholarship “Thank You Notes” from Marie Farmer and Zoey Dennler graduating WACO High School.
- Lion Stan Meyer and Theresa Ferdig coordinated the Blood Drive held on June 6, 2024. 31 units were donated including 5 double reds.
- The last reminder of Wayland Lions Clubs American Flag Program will be sent out prior to July 4 Independence Day. Please donate your $35 prior to the July 4th date or the Flags will not be displayed. Remember, your Flag donation is used for the benefit of the Wayland Communities like Scholarships and Community & individual donations.
Wayland Lions Club American Flag Program celebrates 5 Holidays. The cost for the Flag and Pole provided to applicants will be $35. This year’s 5 Holidays are:
- Memorial Day---May 7, 2024
- Flag Day---June 14, 2024
- Independence Day---July 4, 2024
- Labor Day---September 2, 2024
- Veterans Day---November 11, 2024
New Business:
- Pancake Breakfast update (July 4th, 6:30AM to 9:30 AM, Wayland Community Center):
The Lions Golf Cart will be in the July 4th parade.
Wayland Lions Club members congratulate President Theresa Ferdig for her promotion to Zone Manager effective 7/1/2024.
- Lion Stan Meyer handed out assignment responsibilities for manning the event. This included Grilling Sausage, making pancakes & eggs, serving meals, greeting guests, and refreshing tables.
- This is a Fun activity and Wayland Lions would like to invite anyone who would like to help with the Pancake Breakfast. You would assist the Lions, make New Friends, and enjoy the greeting friends & neighbors.
