The Wayland Lions Club held their Sept. 16, 2025 meeting at “Your Choice Family Restaurant.” They were joined by guest Ron Semler.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Stan Meyer, followed by the Invocation by Lion Bruce Eichelberger.
Theresa Ferdig gave the Treasurer’s Report and Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the Aug. 19, 2025 meeting; both were approved unanimously.
Old Business discussed:
Lion Jay Meyer updated the club on the treats he will be providing for Meet & Greet to be held on Thursday, October 30th.
Treasurer Theresa Ferdig paid the city dues for the use of the Community Center.
New Business:
Our New District Gov., Paul Naim will visit our Oct. 21 meeting and update the Wayland Lions Club on Iowa & International events.
The Wayland Lions Club approved providing assistance for a local community member. Treasurer Theresa Ferdig submitted the request on behalf of the recipient.
A request to serve Thanksgiving Meal for WAYMAR again this year. Approximately 20 guests attended last year. Several Lions volunteered to assist in the meal preparation and serving. A menu will be developed with opportunities to donate from the Wayland Lions Club members.
Jay Meyer is leading the KidSight program for his 20th year. Lions Bruce Eichelberger & Ron Marsh volunteered to assist photographing the children’s eyes and send the pictures to be examined for possible early onset of problems. Lions’ clubs find this service is a tremendous aid to families who often don’t realize some of these hidden problems exist.
Early detection can often lead to correction or assistance for treating the problem.
Rulon “Rudy” Roth was welcomed as a New Member to the Wayland Lions Club.
President Stan Meyer presided over the ceremony of induction with Rudy being cosponsored by Lions Bruce Eichelberger & Stan Meyer.
Have you considered joining the Wayland Lions Club to give back to your community?
