Wayland Lions Club meets

The Wayland Lions Club met on June 21, 2022 at the “Your Choice Restaurant.” There were 14 in attendance.
President Braden Blake called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Invocation was performed by Lion Bob Meyer, blessing the meeting and meal.
Secretary Bill Grimm gave the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
The meeting resumed after the meal.
June Old Business Discussion:
Subscriptions for 117 participants have been received for the Wayland Lions Club American Flag Program. The next day for displaying the American Flag is Independence Day on July 4, 2022.
Lion Stan Meyer reported that the Blood Drive; assisted by the Wayland Lions Club, was successful.
Brian Pattyson updated Lion Marianne Pattyson’s work on smoke detector project. Three companies have been contacted.
Lion Brian gave a written report regarding comments from Past International Director Jerome Thompson and outline of June Iowa Lion.
Lion Jay Meyer gave an update on the KidSight Program. Twenty-two children were photographed by Jay Meyer, Stan Meyer and Ron Marsh.
Two of the children were referred for consultation by a Physician.
June New Business:
A Thank You letter was read from Lilly Clark, who was awarded both of the Wayland Lions Club Scholarships for a total of $1,000 @ Awards Night, WACO High School, May 17, 2022.
Independence Day Pancake Breakfast will be held at the Wayland Community Center on Monday, July 4 from 6:30-9:30 a.m. Stan Meyer handed out the Fourth of July shift assignments to the members. Sausage for the breakfast will be provided with a Hog Donation by Eichelberger Farms; as in the past.
Wayland Lions Club members approved donating the proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast; after expenses, to Bomber Field remodel-project and the Wayland Area Childcare Organization (WACO).
Wayland Lions will welcome the Red Flag Riders into Wayland on Saturday, September 24 at 10 a.m. with their vintage antique vehicles. Refreshments will be served for the Red Flag Riders at the Wayland Community Center at that time.
President Braden Blake passed the Gavel onto New President Jay Meyer, whose term will be from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
President Meyer adjourned the meeting at 7:25 p.m.

Members meet on the third Tuesday of every month. Meetings start at 6:30 PM & adjourns around 7:45 to 8:00 p.m.
