Discussed New Business:
President Ferdig suggested using discarded eye glass cases stuffed with useful items to be a project for a ladies group gathering. She was going to present the idea to the ladies if the Lions approved. Tabled for further discussion.
The Wayland American Flag program was discussed. There are 130 participants and the interest of area residents to join continues. At present there are 10 units available for new customers.
The Wayland Lions Club installs the American Flag on the participants’ property during Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day. The proceeds from the program are used to fund projects for the Wayland Communities.
Ordering additional Wayland Lions Club hats and shirts was discussed with an order deadline for the month of October.
Lion Vests were discussed as a method to enhance awareness of Lions membership. Stan Meyer & Gary Lauger will wear their vests at the next meeting to demonstrate their impact.
Lion Braden Blake suggested that some Wayland Lions Club members assist at the Concession Stand at WACO High School football game on Sept. 15, 2023. Eight to ten participants are needed. The members agreed to participate.
President Theresa Ferdig suggested considering additional events since the Annual Rose Sale will not be available this year. Treasurer Terry Kaufman mentioned that the calendar should be researched so we don’t have conflict with other events. Some of the ideas were an ice cream social, Soup supper and Potluck event. Members were asked to think of potential events to service the Wayland Communities which be reviewed at the August meeting.
