Wayland Lions Club meets

The Wayland Lions Club met on Oct. 17. President Theresa Ferdig led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Roger Roth Blessed the meal and meeting. There were 11 members.
Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the Sept. 19, 2023, meeting. Both were unanimously approved.
Meeting broke for meal order.
Old Business:
At the resumption of the meeting the members discussed and voted donations, change in regulations on Eye glass donations and expenses for Nov. 26 Meet & Greet and LCIF & ILF as follows:
•Eye Glass donation raise tabled to next meeting.
•Jay Meyer allotted expense to cover candy for Oct. 26 Meet & Greet.
•Donation for Lions Clubs International Fund which is used for Grants for World Events like earthquakes, flooding, etc.
•Donation to Iowa Lions Foundation for Grants to assist in Iowa Programs like KidSight, Camp Courageous, etc.
•Donation to “All God’s Creatures Animal Shelter” in Mount Pleasant.
Lions Shirts, Hats, Vests discussed and requesting a catalog to finalize order.
The Red Flag Antique Motor Vehicle route through Wayland was enjoyed by those in attendance.
It was decided to celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the Wayland Lions Club Charter in conjunction with the Christmas Party on Dec. 19, 2023. This meeting will be catered at Wayland Community Center. District Gov. Mike Renken will be the featured speaker. Wayland Lions Club Members will discuss their experience serving the Wayland Communities.
The format for the discussion would include:
•Most Memorable Events/Projects they contributed and why they are favored in their memory.
•Reasons they joined the Wayland Lions Club and why they would encourage their family, friends, and business acquaintances to join the Wayland Lions Club.
New Business:
•KidSight Vision Testing will be on Monday Oct. 23 @ Crawfordsville Elementary School starting at 10:15 a.m. Jay Meyer will lead the testing as he has for several years with volunteers Ron Marsh & Bruce Eichelberger.
•Civil Club Day discussion was tabled seeking further information.
Meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
