Wayland Lions Club meets

The Wayland Lions Club met Sept. 15 at the Your Choice Family Restaurant. There were 11 members present.

President Gary Lauger opened the meeting and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Robert Meyer gave the Invocation.

Guest Speaker Tammy Shull from Iowa WINS shared how WINS began and transformed into what it is today.

Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the Aug. 18, 2020 meeting; then Treasurer Terry Kaufman presented the Treasure's Report and both reports were approved.

President Gary Lauger informed the members that next months Guest Speaker is Sira Curfman Owner/Manager of Your Choice Family Restaurant. She will be discussing issues regarding starting up a business, implications of Covid-19 while starting up a business and living through Covid-19.

Treasurer Terry Kaufman discussed the Wayland American Flag Program, which has 101 current participants. New enrollments through the end of the year will be started in 2021 for the following National Holidays:

' Memorial Day: May 31, 2021

' Flag Day: June 14, 2021

' Independence Day: July 4, 2021

' Labor Day: September 6, 2021

' Veterans Day: November 11, 2021

The remaining holiday for 2020 for the Wayland American Flag Program is Veterans day on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
