Wayland Lions Club meets

The Wayland Lions Club held their July meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were 14 members present.
President Randy Morrow opened the meeting and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Larry Graber gave the Invocation.
The meeting resumed after a delicious meal prepared by Caterer Alice Hochstetler.
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the June 16, 2020 meeting; then Treasurer Terry Kaufman presented the Treasure's Report and both reports were approved.
President Randy Morrow updated the members on American Flag Program that was implemented this year.
Memorial Day was the first of 5 National Holidays, which saw 80 residents flying American Flags
Flag Day was the 2nd National Holiday with 84 American Flags flying
Independence Day (July 4th) has 87 residents participating
(Presently there are 99 participants in the Wayland American Flag Program. We will increase the number of American Flags in stock to meet the demand of Wayland Citizens interested in celebrating their American Heritage)
President Randy Morrow was honored by the membership for managing this program and assembling the American Flags, poles and inground receptacles. Lion Bill Grimm was also acknowledged for introducing the American Flag Program to the Wayland Lions Club.
Lions Gwen Devaul, Randy Morrow, Randy Blake, Braden Blake and Bill Grimm were acknowledged for setting up the American Flags and retrieving them after the holiday.
The remaining holidays for 2020 for the Wayland American Flag Program are:
Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2020.
Veterans day on Wednesday, November 11, 2020.
President Randy Morrow made a special donation to the Wayland Lions Club from scrap metal collection.
Lion Brian Pattyson updated the members on the Henry County Freedom Rock ride, which took place on Saturday, July 11th from Winfield Community Center (VFW). Upon returning to the Winfield Community Center for food, fun and raffles to contribute to the cost of the Patriotic Painting of the Freedom Rock to acknowledge the men & women of our armed services-past & present. A November food event is planned with similar events to raise funds for the painting of the Henry County Freedom Rock. Other events will be forthcoming to raise additional funds for the painting, which is now projected for the Spring of 2021.
Lion Stan Meyer is checking on the availability of roses for the 2020 Annual Rose Sale.
President Randy Morrow passed the Gavel to the 2020/2021 term President Gary Lauger. Outgoing President Randy Morrow was recognized by all for an outstanding term as President of the Wayland Lions Club. Braden Blake is now 1st Vice President of the Wayland Lions Club.
Motion to end the evening's meeting was approved at 7:30 p.m.
