Wayland Lions Club meets

The Wayland Lions Club held their March 15 meeting at the “Your Choice Restaurant.” There were 15 in attendance.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Braden Blake, followed by the Invocation by Lion Robert Meyer.
At resumption of the meeting, Secretary Bill Grimm gave the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
March Old Business Discussion:
American Flag Trailer having final body repair, before unveiling at April 19th meeting.
10 more American Flags being ordered for Wayland Lions Club American Flag Program. Total subscriptions to date are 120.
Lion Stan Meyer confirmed that the next Blood Drive, assisted by the Wayland Lions Club, would be on June 1 at the Wayland Community Center.
March New Business:
Lions Robert Meyer & Bill Grimm received Centennial Pins for sponsoring New Members of the Wayland Lions Club during the Lions Clubs Centennial Celebration from 2014 to 2018.
The Annual Easter Egg Hunt is on April 16. Participating Lions will meet at 12:15 p.m. for setup at the park.
Lion Jay Meyer is coordinating the WACO KidSight Vision Program.
Lion Brian Pattyson updated members on “The Iowa Lion” articles from the March Publication; which included, District 9SE Convention on April 9 in Virtual Format, MDP Iowa Lions State Convention on May 21 in Ames and subscribing for a Home Delivered hard copy of “The Iowa Lion” to the members home address.
Officer & Chair Elections for July 2022/June 2023 Term:
President Jay Meyer---Jay has been very active as a Lion, coordinating the WACO KidSight Vision Program, Annual Easter Egg Hunt and many other Wayland Community events.
1st Vice President---Carole Martins was responsible for creating the Largest Leo Program in the State of Iowa at Waco High School; as Graphic/Arts Teacher, participating in Annual Pancake Breakfast and other Community Events.
2nd Vice President---Theresa Ferdig recently joined Wayland Lions Club to contribute to Community Events and meet more members of the Wayland Community. Theresa has been active at Parkview Home with devotional programs and other activities to benefit the residents.
Secretary---Bill Grimm continues at this position, has been President, brought in New Members, introduced “The American Flag Program” to the Wayland Lions Club and previously was Parkview Home Administrator.
Treasurer---Terry Kaufman continues this position; due to his expertise in local banking, accounting and serving as Treasurer in other capacities. Terry has also contributed adding New Members to Wayland Lions Club.
Club Administrator & Marketing Communications---will be continued to be handled by Brian Pattyson. Brian is a former President of the Wayland Lions Club, Wayland Membership Chair, Iowa Lions 9SE Global Membership Coordinator, Chartering The 1st Iowa Wesleyan Campus Lions Club.
Membership Chair---Braden Blake will assume this position; after serving as President in the 2021-2022 Term as President. Braden has handled the “American Flag Program” marketing and accounting. He has also been instrumental in recruiting New Members.
Service Chair---Lions Stan Meyer will continue coordinating service events; like the Annual Blood Drive, Annual Pancake Breakfast, Annual Rose Sale, etc. Stan is the longest serving Wayland Lion for 56 Years.
Wayland Lions Club Membership information:
Wayland Lions Club chartered on May 10, 1958. Lions Motto: “WE SERVE!” Members meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. and adjourn around 7:45 to 8:00 p.m.
