Wayland Lions Club meets, discusses possible fundraisers

The Wayland Lions Club held their Aug. 20 meeting at the Your Choice Restaurant. There were 11 members and five guests present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by President Theresa Ferdig, followed by the Invocation by Lion Bruce Eichelberger.
Secretary Bill Grimm gave the last meetings minutes and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report, after the meal. Both were approved unanimously by the members.
Guests Dave Muhs and Heather Kleemeyer reported on “YES EMS.” The report describes how important the vote is to Henry County’s Medical Care with support and assistance to community First Responders.
District Governor Mike Renken called for New Voices in all positions, especially District Governors, District Officers, and Lions Club Officers. DG Mike Renken will be visiting 39 Lions Clubs with assistance of Past District Governors.
Old Business:
- Lions Shirts, Vests and other Lion Material must be ordered online from the New Lions Portal.
- Lion Randy Morrow reported that there are 141 American Flags available and 120 paid subscriptions. Teresa & Randy will be updating the American Flag Brochure for next year.
- Eye Glass assistance would be handled on a case-by-case basis.
New Business:
- President Theresa Ferdig listed the possible following fund raisers for service to the Wayland Communities:
- Auctions silent or verbal.
- Raffles
- Chile cookoffs or Chile Supper
- Car demolition with sledgehammer.
- Looking for other ideas.
New Lion Inducted:
District Governor Mike Renken inducted Donna Kaufman as a New Lion Member of the Wayland Lions Club. Lions Bruce Eichelberger was Donna’s Sponsor.
