Wayland Lions Club meets Nov. 18

The Wayland Lions Club held their Nov. 18, 2025 meeting at “Your Choice Family Restaurant.”
The Pledge of Allegiance & Invocation was led by President Stan Meyer. Theresa Ferdig gave the Treasurer’s Report and Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes of the Oct. 21 meeting. The reports were approved unanimously.
Old Business discussed:
President Stan Meyer discussed the KidSight program which has not been completed yet. Jay Meyer is waiting for the availability of the camera that produces unique pictures to be analyzed by Eye Specialists.
Treasurer Theresa Ferdig updated the Lions Club on the Menu for the Thanksgiving Lunch at WAYMAR to be served at Noon on Thursday November 27th. Thanksgiving items should be delivered between 11 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. to the community room @ WAYMAR. All items for the menu have been donated by Wayland Lions Club, local business, and the Wayland community. Planning for 30 attendees.
New Business:
Linda Dangler was inducted as a New Member of the Wayland Lions Club by President Stan Meyer. Treasurer Theresa Ferdig is her Sponsor.
Wayland Lions American Flag program:
1. Flags were displayed on Monday Nov. 10 prior to Veterans Day.
2. Flags were retrieved on Wednesday November 12th.
The Wayland Lions Club Christmas Party will be held at the Wayland Community Center on Tuesday, Dec. 16 @ 6:30 p.m. Lions Theresa Ferdig & Donna Kaufman are coordinating the caterer & entertainment.
The Wayland Lions Food Program provides a bag of food for students of WACO High School & adults for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Last year 80 bags were distributed at the beginning of the school break. The cost of the program is provided by the Wayland Lions Club & it’s individual member contributions.
Wayland Lions Club welcomes Todd & Sue Williams as the New Proprietors of former KTC building which will become a restaurant. As New Owners and Wayland community members they wanted to offer a donation to help support the Lions KidSight program. Wayland Lions were very appreciative for their community spirit.
What do Lions Clubs & their members do for you?
Lions Disaster Relief contributions by Iowa Lions Clubs:
1. Iowa raised $105,000 to replace Eye Equipment and was matched by International Lions Fund.
2. Iowa’s flooding last year was met with funding of $80,000.
Mission & Goal is to reach 1.5 million members, a raise of 100,000 from existing 1.4 million members of Worldwide Lions.
1. The Key to Lions Clubs success is enthusiastic members willing to contribute in many ways to mankind!
2. Lions affect millions of people around the world every year by contributing time, effort and with specific financial programs. “Where there is a need there is a Lion!”
3. Special dates to remember:
a. November is Diabetes Month
b. Jan. 3-11, 2026, is Hunger awareness
c. Feb. 15, 2026, is Child Cancer Day
d. March 21,2026 District meeting in Mount Vernon
e. June 5-7, 2026, is State Lions Convention

Wayland Lions Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at “Your Choice Family Restaurant” from 6:30 p.m. to around 7:45 p.m.
