Wayland Lions Club meets Oct. 21

The Wayland Lions Club held their Oct. 21, 2025 meeting at “Your Choice Family Restaurant.” They were joined by two guests, District Gov. Paul Hain and his wife Sylvia.
President Stan Meyer introduced our New District Governor & his wife to the members. The Pledge of Allegiance & Invocation was led by Stan.
Theresa Ferdig gave the Treasurer’s Report and Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the Sept. 16 meeting. There were two corrections noted:
Meet & Greet is on Thursday Oct. 23 not October 30th.
Adjustment in District Governor’s title.
Old Business discussed:
Lion Jay Meyer purchased treats for Meet & Greet to be held on Thursday, October 23rd.
Jay updated the Lions Club on the KidSight Program. The contact of the school was delayed until the Special Camera was available. The school has the permission forms for the eye pictures and follow up with the Doctor for review. Any abnormalities will be addressed.
Treasurer Theresa Ferdig updated the Lions Club on the Menu for the Thanksgiving Lunch at Waymar to be served at Noon on Thursday November 27th. Planning for 30 attendees. A sign-up sheet was distributed for those who wanted to contribute to the Menu.
New Business:
Wayland Lions American Flag program:
Flags will be installed on Monday Nov. 10 prior to Veterans Day.
Flags will be retrieved on Wednesday November 12th.
Secretary Theresa Ferdig submitted a request for glasses for two students. The request was approved.
A thank-you note was read by Theresa Ferdig for a contribution to Little Me and Company.
Ron Semler was inducted into the Wayland Lions Club.
The ceremony was officiated by District Gov. Paul Hain with President Stan Meyer as the Sponsor.
New District Gov., Paul Hain addressed the Wayland Lions Club with updates from International President Singh. DG Hain also commented on District plans and interests.
“Bee” true to the vision “We Serve!”
“Buzz” with excitement to do what needs to be done as Lions.
District Convention is approaching, and all are invited to attend. Our objective is “Lead to Serve and Serve to Lead.” We need to step outside our comfort zone to fill District positions of Leadership!
Disaster Relief contributions by Iowa Lions Clubs:
Iowa raised $105,000 to replace Eye Equipment and was matched by International Lions Fund.
Iowa’s flooding last year was met with funding of $80,000.
Mission & Goal is to reach 1.5 million members a raise of 100,000 from existing 1.4 million members of World Wide Lions.
The Key to Lions Clubs success is enthusiastic members willing to contribute in many ways to mankind!
Lions affect millions of people around the world every year by contributing time, effort and with specific financial programs. “Where there is a need there is a Lion!”

Wayland Lions Club meets on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at “Your Choice Family Restaurant” from 6:30 p.m. to around 7:45 p.m.
