Wayland Lions Club meets, plans Easter Egg Hunt

The Wayland Lions Club held their February meeting on Feb. 20 at “Your Choice Restaurant.” There were 10 members present.
Lion Brian Pattyson called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Roger Roth gave the Invocation.
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
During the meal a discussion about The Wind Turbine Project for Henry County was informative. Interested parties can go on the following link for information regarding community meetings and further information about the project: (https://henrycountywindproject.com/home).
Old Business:
•Brian Pattyson read a note from President Theresa Ferdig thanking the participants that attended the December 19, 2023, Christmas/65th Anniversary Party.
•President Ferdig acknowledge District Governor Mike Renken, Thelma Oneill for entertaining as Mrs. Santa Claus, Julie Pearson for catering the party and the Wayland Lions Club members who shared their personal profiles as a Wayland Lion.
•Lion Stan Meyer was chosen to give his Profile in the newspaper as a Wayland Lion for 57 years at a future date.
•There are two Membership Chevrons to be presented at a future meeting to Jay Meyer (25 years) and Roger Roth (55 years).
New Business:
•Brian Pattyson announced that a New Banner Patch acknowledging Wayland Lions Club’s Charitable Donations in 2022-2023.
•Brian Pattyson also noted that a New Wayland Lions Club Banner should be purchased as the original Banner was full of badges and acknowledgements of Wayland Lions Club community events and donations. The request was tabled until the next meeting to finalize decisions on which banner to choose and related costs.
•Donations of 2 Scholarships of $500 each were approved for WACO High School.
•Impact Life Blood Drive will be held on June 6, 2024, at Wayland Town Hall Community Center. Stan Meyer and Theresa Ferdig will host the event for the Wayland Lions Club.
•The Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at West Park. Jay Meyer will coordinate the event and provide the candy treats.
•Wayland Lions Club American Flag Program will be sending out applications for the 5 Holidays. The cost for the Flag & Pole provided to applicants will be $35. This years 5 Holidays are:
1.Memorial Day---May 7, 2024
2.Independence Day---July 4, 2024
3.Flag Day---June 14, 2024
4.Labor Day---September 2, 2024
5.Veterans Day---November 11, 2024
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM.
