The Wayland Lions Club held their July meeting at Wayland Community Center on July 16. Attending were six members and one guest.
President Theresa Ferdig called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Lion Stan Meyer gave the Invocation.
Secretary Bill Grimm read the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
Old Business:
- Stan Meyer gave a report on the July 4th Independence Day Pancake Breakfast. Stan complemented the volunteers that made the Pancake Breakfast run without a hitch and he said it was the smoothest run ever! The Fire Station BlackStone griddles were greatly appreciated and kept eggs and pancakes ready when needed. The conversation and laughter at the tables showed a great time for all attending.
- Flag bill reminders were sent out to those who hadn’t responded, and Randy Morrow had 22 who paid for their subscriptions in response to his call. Remember, your Flag donation is used for the benefit of the Wayland Communities like Scholarships and Community & individual donations.
- American Flag Brochure will be updated for next year.
- A New Easter Bunny suit was ordered for next year’s Easter program.
- A new catalog is being sent for Lion products like shirts and hats, etc.
- President Theresa Ferdig accepted extension of her President term through June 30, 2025.
New Business:
- RAGBRAI update: 5 Lions volunteered to assist.
- District Governor Michael Renken will attend the August 20th meeting. Wayland Lion Members plan to Sponsor 3 or 4 New Members.
- There will be a Guest Speaker on Ambulance Service in Henry County.

The meeting adjourned at 7:25 PM.
