The Washington County Extension Office held a ?Welcome to the Jungle? Day Camp in the afternoon of June 21 and both morning and afternoon of June 22. The camps were held in Riverside, Kalona, and Marr Park. All three sessions contained the same fun and excitement around the theme of a ?Jungle Safari.? About 50 pre-kindergartners and kindergarteners attended the camps.
When the campers arrived they were assigned a specific group and welcomed by a counselor. For many, this was their first experience attending a summer camp. During the camp, the kids made their own jungle trees, created a safari vest, went on a jungle scavenger hunt searching for animal clues, and enjoyed several fun games and activities.
Several County Council Members helped out at the camps including: Leah Marek, Peyton Cuddeback, Jacob Leonard, Ellie Todd, Roman Kiefer, Katie Palmer, Erin Chalupa, Kaitlin Poock, Eli Van Roekel, Jillian Nafziger, Frankie Johnson, Austin Stalder, Morgan Brinning, Cody Crawford, TJ Durst, David Hora, Gracie Greiner, and Clara Schmitz.
