Jefferson County Environmental Health offers free well water testing and has grant funds for reconstructing old wells or plugging old wells and cisterns.
'Protecting our groundwater is extremely important and everyone needs to do their part. Old wells can be dangerous and they can allow surface contamination to get into our groundwater,” said Dan Miller, of Jefferson County Environmental Health Department.
