After an attack of Glo-Germs, the first-and second-graders at Wellman Elementary reviewed and practiced good hand-washing techniques through the Pick a Better Snack program March 27.
Sarah Huston representing Washington County Extension/4-H demonstrated with glo-germ lotion how quickly germs spread while tracking everything they touched, with a black light. Students took signs home to remind their families of the importance of proper handwashing.
Students also enjoyed sugar snap peas as the healthy snack for the day. Fiona McClellan, daughter of Matt and Collette, enjoyed snapping her peas open in Becca Droll?s first-grade classroom.
The Wellman Elementary Pick a Better Snack program is supported by Washington County Extension. If you have any questions about the Pick a Better Snack program or would like to volunteer or sponsor, please call the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
