The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church for a 1:30 p.m. meeting on Oct. 8.
Eight members were in attendance. President Sharon Hahn opened the meeting with prayer. She told about the district meeting that she and Nancy Schmidt had attended in Davenport. She also reported that reading books are available for anyone to read during the year.

The West Chester United Methodist Women met at the church for a 1:30 p.m. meeting on Oct. 8.
Eight members were in attendance. President Sharon Hahn opened the meeting with prayer. She told about the district meeting that she and Nancy Schmidt had attended in Davenport. She also reported that reading books are available for anyone to read during the year.
The secretary?s report was given and approved. The treasurer?s report was given. Three special mission offerings are collected each year. Funds for the pledge service are kept in the unit; funds from the thank offering are sent to the district treasurer; and funds from the prayer and self-denial offering are also sent to the district.
Treasurer Doris Fisher presented the list of officers for 2015. Pat Dusenbery made a motion to accept the list of officers, Beverly Zehr seconded, and the motion carried.
Pat Dusenbery, Education and Interpretation chairman, gave an interesting report from the Response magazine on missionaries and terrible conditions around the world, specifically in the Philippines.
The programs for 2015 were presented, with the option that changes can still be made.
The committees for the Annual Election Night Supper on Nov. 4 were presented and accepted by the unit. Serving will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4.
Doris Fisher presented the pledge service program. Each woman was asked to give a pledge to help the unit continue with its work.
The next meeting will be Nov. 12 at Halcyon House in Washington. The program will be by Karen Heineman, Halcyon House administrator. Hostess will be Letha Statler.
Doris served delicious seasonal refreshments to close the afternoon.
