Westwood history
Submitted photo Glenda Campbell presents a program about the History of Westwood on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 17, in the education room of Mt. Pleasant's Henry County Museum. Sponsored by Henry County Heritage Trust, the room was filled with history buffs, as Campbell told the story of early Westwood, where Nathaniel White was the first known settler in the mid-1830s. More than 100 years later, in the 1950s, folks determined that the area was a beautiful place to build homes. By 1982, the city of Westwood was established as Iowa's 956th city, boasting over 100 residents.
