What is truth?
What is truth? I wonder how many times this question has come up in our minds and in our thoughts as we are faced with decisions that we have to make and things that we have to do. Then also can we know the truth and do we apply it to the decisions that we make, or do we try to find another way around it so we can do something that we want to do or get something that we want even if we have to go around the truth ...

What is truth? I wonder how many times this question has come up in our minds and in our thoughts as we are faced with decisions that we have to make and things that we have to do. Then also can we know the truth and do we apply it to the decisions that we make, or do we try to find another way around it so we can do something that we want to do or get something that we want even if we have to go around the truth to get it? Then also, are there absolute truths? I know that, in this day and age that we live in, there are many who are seeking the truth about many different things and then there are those who want to hide or conceal the truth to protect themselves of what will happen when the truth is revealed. Also there are many who are confused about truth and have in mind this question, ?What is truth??
The Bible tells us about a man who asked Jesus this question. His name was Pontius Pilate and he was the governor of Jerusalem at the time of Christ?s crucifixion. The Jews and the high priest had brought Jesus into his court as an evildoer to get him to crucify Him. Pilate asked Jesus if He was the king of the Jews. Jesus said, ?My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews, but now my kingdom is not from here.? Pilate then asked Jesus if He was a king. Jesus answered, ?You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.? Pilate asked this question, ?What is truth?? and walked away and went outside and told the Jews that ?I find no fault in Him at all.?
Pilate was a well-educated man; he knew the Roman laws, he knew that the people of Rome served many different gods and that many different concepts of philosophy were taught and practiced. But then his question, ?What is truth?? Then the next thought that comes to my mind is, what did he do with the truth that he knew? He knew the Jews brought Jesus to him out of envy and jealousy, he knew that Jesus was innocent, and he said, ?I find no fault in Him.? Yet to appease the people and to protect his job and his position, maybe even to preserve his life, he went against the truth and had Jesus crucified.
Can we know the truth? Yes. In the Bible, John 8:31-32, Jesus said, ?If you abide in my word, you are my disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.? We can have the truth; it?s in God?s word. Truth never changes and is just like God, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Without truth we have nothing to really stand on. I believe today we need to know the truth, seek it, and then walk in it. What will I do with the truth? What will you do with the truth? What we do with the truth is what conforms and shapes our lives. It is what gives us real hope for tomorrow. Jesus said, ?I come that you might have life and have it more abundantly.? He also said, ?I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life.? Let us seek Him, seek the truth, and walk in it so that we may find and enjoy the abundant life that He came for us to have. Thank you.
