White Cloud Club meets at bowling center

Four members of the White Cloud Club held their regular monthly meeting at the Lebowski Rock n' Bowl Center in Washington on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The group enjoyed lunch.

Prior to the business meeting, Margaret Patterson shared information about the Welsh Patron Saint Dwynwen (Donwen), who was the Patron Saint of Lovers. She lived during the 5th Century in Wales. Like current Valentine's Day traditions cards and gifts were shared among Welsh lovers. Dwynwen never married, but devoted her life to God's service.

Margaret also shared examples of Welsh Lovespoons which are crafted and presented by a lover to a young lady whom he was interested in becoming his bride.

President Joleen Colthurst opened the meeting with a reading "Be My Valentine" authored by Helen Keller. Roll call was answered by those present naming a favorite vacation. The Secretary read the minutes of the December meeting.

Old Business: None.

New Business: A discussion was held about potential new members. The club's March meeting will be Date Night with a reminder to invite a special guest. Joleen has arranged dinner out at "Your Family Restaurant" in Wayland at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Those attending were Jolene Colthurst, Betty Lintz, Margaret Patterson and Virginia Sands.

Their time ended by thanking Margaret for arranging the meeting. She shared a Valentine gift of a note pad with those present.

Ash Wednesday services will be held at the United Church of Crawfordsville on Wednesday, February 22 at 9 a.m. and Ainsworth Community Church at 7 p.m.

Area Youth meet every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Bethel Church. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. They have a Praise Band and Pastor Nathan Grieser leads worship. A group of 32 went to Winter Jam at Des Moines Friday evening, February 10, 2023. There were ten bands present. Bethel Youth Group's name is "United".
